Prints, Purple and Publications

                          (Photography by: Bruce LaMotte)

The Look: Grid print crop top- JCPenney, Fuschia pencil skirt- JCPenney, Studded Valentino inspired heels- Cicihot.com, Aqua studs- Francesca's Collections, Beaded black necklace- Charming Charlie, Circle shades- Dallas Market Center

Pull out all the stops in this purple pencil skirt, paired with a printed crop top. The right amount of color, print and rock star accessories, create the most glam, office, street style look. That's a thing right? If not, I'm just creating imaginary ideals in my brain. I envision this office friendly "stop them in their tracks" outfit, to be worn by a fearless  fashionista. She embodies confidence, femininity and personal style. In my head, I would wear this to a meeting with my Editor in Chief at Elle Magazine. I would bring my editorial and feature story ideas to her, she would reject them, make me re-write the entire thing and I would love every minute of it. Now, I am just daydreaming here, but maybe my future fashion career will entail some form of publications, who knows. I always secretly knew there was a reason I drowned myself in deadlines when I was an Opinion Editor for my high school newspaper. My advisor back then, Carol Richtsmeier, "Mrs. Ritchie" as we called her, was like Miranda Priestly in the Devil Wears Prada if you can imagine. Every column I wrote, was re-written and edited at least ten times. She even referred to the newspaper staff as "stupid," which I secretly loved. Thanks to Ritchie, my love for writing and publications has flourished intensely.

Cozy and Craving Spring

The Look: Hot pink Romeo + Juliet sweater-Nordstrom Rack, High-waist black skater skirt- Francesca's Collections, Tights- Francesca's Collections, Grey and black plaid infinity scarf- Nordstrom Rack, Layered chain statement necklace- H&M, Aqua studs- Francesca's Collections

Cozy layers and a great bag are all a fashionista really needs to survive until spring. For the days when you feel like wearing sweats and bumming it out, this is the perfect comfy-cozy combination, yet still fashion infused. There is no excuse for dressing like you just rolled out of bed, especially when you have a to-do list as long as mine. Put on your most glam M.A.C lipstick, grab your Kate Spade planner and hustle. Personally, I feel like Superwoman when I throw on my best garments. This outfit is the perfect statement piece. It says, "I'm ready for spring, but I'm not ready to let go of my sweaters just yet."

Warm, wool ponchos made a major fashion comeback this fall. This tricky trend is expected to appear in more retailers Fall 2015, but has managed to make a pre-debut on various runways and in stores, such as Francesca's Collections. A bulky poncho is the perfect way to make a statement. At first, I was hesitant to tackle this trend, mainly due to the fact that I haven't worn a poncho since my Limited Too days back in Elementary. My doubts quickly faded when I discovered this gem at Francesca's for only $21. It was a no-brainer. Now, with this particular poncho, I would add a metallic, skinny belt to cinch in the waist, in order to see my shape. If you're hesitant to purchase a unique ensemble such as this one, just play around with styling it.

Conquering the City in Style

                                                                  (Photography: Bruce LaMotte)

The Look: Black chiffon blouse- Francesca's Collections, Plaid skirt- Charlotte Russe, Studded Valentino inspired heels- Cicihot.com, Kate Spade New York tote- Nordstrom Rack, 70's inspired  purple pendent gold chain- Gran's closet, Aqua stud earrings- Francesca's Collections

Nothing says "I'm ready for business" like a classic, chiffon staple blouse. To say that I am obsessed with chiffon fabric would be a drastic understatement. I just can't get enough. Chiffon can go from casual, to dressy with a few tweaks. Here, I've paired my chiffon blouse with a plaid, skater-skirt. The length of the skirt is perfect for the office, but can easily be translated in to a night out in the city. Typical business suits put me to sleep, so I had to create my version of  "business professional." Now, if you're planning on being a lawyer, an accountant or your office has a strict dress code, I would highly advise leaving this sexy-chic outfit for dinner with your girls or hubby. Since my career aspirations include becoming a fashion buyer, this outfit displays the right amount of classy and sassy while remaining uber-glam.
